This summer we have two very successful programs at our public library. I was so worried we would not have many people to show up because we have one large program each week that brings in around three hundred children.
Our Storytime had 96 children who enjoyed our story, game and songs. We had 46 children attend our Makers Space program. Below you will see a few of the Aliens they made.
“Voting for our
leaders is a great privilege in the United States. Today Nicolette a book character from the
book. “Lambslide,” is here to tell us about her character in the book.”
“Nicolette, tell us
about the author and illustrator who created you and the lambs.”
Nicolette
Ann Patchett from Nashville, Tennessee is the writer for,
“Lambslide.” Robin Glasser is the
illustrator who drew me, the lambs and my family.
“Tell us about
yourself.”
Nicolette
Sure, I was created to run for class president. My lambs are always around me and I love
them. They are smart but think the universe was made just for them. They were close to me the day I was working
on my campaign posters. My Mother said I
would win by a landslide. The lambs thought she said lambslide and wondered
where this place was.
“So that’s where the
title came from. Can you tell us if you
won class president?”
Nicolette
I did but that was only part of this great story. The lamb’s
mother helped them figure out what they needed to do to find the lambslide and
the story grew from that conflict. Everyone is going to love my lambs and see
how smart they are.
“Great! I can’t wait
to read the book. Thank you for coming
and have fun with your lambs and being class president.”
Nicolette
I sure will!
Sliding
By Vicky Manning
I’m sliding down my momma’s leg, Wee!
Won’t you come and slide with me?
I’m sliding down my momma’s leg, Wee!
I hit the floor and count to three.

(You can add things your child can slide down while you sing the poem to them.)
Place colorful dot stickers on lamb (I found the small dots at Wal-mart and they work well with this project.
