This book would be great to read where the pictures can be seen by every child. Good idea to make a copy of the pictures and use power point to show them.
While reading let the students see the pictures and answer the questions on the page. The pictures are painted in water colors and it looks like the black crow is in ink.
Don’t you just love a story that brings the children in to help make it special?
Five little Black Crows
By Vicky Manning
Five little black crows sitting in a tree,
One flew south to find a house.
Four little black crows sitting in a tree,
One flew north to sit on a porch.
Three little black crows sitting in a tree,
One flew west to be a guest.
Two little black crows sitting in a tree,
One flew east to join a fleet.
One little black crow sitting in a tree,
He flew off to live with me.
Little Black Crow craft
Give the students a white piece of paper and water colors.
Have them to paint a picture of their family.
Let it dry and then write on the bottom of the picture “Little Black Crow do you like my picture?”
Let them stamp little black crow on their picture in black ink.
If you can, tweet or send author Chris Raschka the pictures from your classroom.
Foam sheet (thick)
Make copy of crow
Trace and cut out
Glue crow to the bottom of thick foam sheet
Take two sticker foam shapes and stick one on top of the other
Stick the foam shape to the top (This will give the child a place to hold the stamp)
