Space Theme (Contest Games)

I’m continuing with the space theme for this years Summer Reading Programs. Below are a few contest games. I hope you are enjoying my space theme blogs.

Let the Games Begin!

Moon Leap

Give students their astronaut Leap number.

Each student gets a turn to leap as far as they can.

Place a circle sticker, with the student’s number, on the floor where they landed.

Moon Jump

Give students their astronaut Jump number.

Each student gets a turn to jump as far as they can.

Place a circle sticker, with the student’s number, on the floor where they landed.

Building a Tower of Stars

Draw or place star stickers on small cups.

Pair students off

Place cups in the middle of students

See who can build the tallest tower of stars.

Stringing Stars

Use cardboard or poster board to make your stars.

Punch a hole on one point of the stars.

Give students a ball of yarn.

Give students three minutes to string as many stars as they can.

(I would pair students once again for this contest)

Constellation Challenge

Tape off two constellations with painters tape

Give students stars to place at each point of the constellation.

The student who finishes their constellation first wins.

Domino Book Star

Students are to build a star with their books.

Once they have built their star they are to push one book to make the star fall.

The first person to complete task, wins.

How many people will fit on the moon?

Draw off a moon with painter’s tape. Make it big enough for about ten students to fit inside.

Instruct the students to fill as many on the moon as they can. (The students that figure out to stack themselves will have more)

 The group that has the most plants a flag on their moon.
